Thanks to its high index of refractoriness and its covering capacity, the titanium dioxide is used in the ceramic sector as an additive to plastic materials inside pigments, frits and glazes to facilitate the extrusion; as a white pigment in varnishes and construction concrete; as an opacifier in paper, textile fibers and cosmetics, in which it is used also in sunscreen creams to protect the skin from UV rays.
